Barley to beer is the whole business model.
Why the brewery exists

Barley to beer is the whole business model.

Feed barley leaves a farm at somewhere around a hundred and fifty to two hundred pounds a tonne. The same barley, brewed and bottled and sold as lager, is worth roughly twenty to forty times that.

That multiple is not a marketing insight. It is the reason a farm that has never once made money can nonetheless support a drinks business that turned over £21.3 million in the year to March 2025, tripling in twelve months and taking twenty-third place on the Sunday Times 100.

Everything else on this estate is an argument about the same principle. Every tonne that leaves as beer, flour, bread or a branded box instead of as a commodity multiplies what the ground is worth. The farming loses money. The value-adding does not.

Loyalty

The Order of Hawkstone.

Sign up and you are enrolled automatically. Every purchase earns Runes, and so does checking in at a Hawkstone location — a pub, the brewery, the farm shop. Runes unlock discounts and perks on future orders.

It is a working, in-production loyalty scheme with a genuinely good name, and it is the thing the rest of the estate should be built on rather than replaced.
