Food

The menu.

Everything on it is British. Mains run from fifteen pounds to twenty-eight. Food is served Tuesday to Saturday, noon until quarter past three and half five until half nine.

Prices captured August 2026. The kitchen changes things, so treat this as a good guide rather than a contract.

The sourcing rule

What is on the plate, and what is very much not.

In

  • British beef, pork, lamb and venison
  • British milk, butter and eggs
  • British vegetables and fruit
  • British cooking oils
  • British flour, in the pizza dough
  • British birthday cakes, genuinely

Out

  • Coca-Cola, or any well-known American soft drink
  • Avocado
  • Coffee
  • Black pepper
  • Ketchup, at launch — that argument has since been partly won
  • Anything at all we cannot trace to a British producer
So if you are after a well-known American soft drink, you might be disappointed. The Farmer's Dog

The Sunday roast is a different problem.

Served noon until half six, and gone within minutes of tables releasing.

Wondering

What people actually ask.

The two questions this page gets most, answered without a support ticket.

Every ingredient on the menu is from these islands. It is the whole point of the place, and it is the reason there is no lemon in the gin and tonic.

The garden bars are walk-in and always have been. The restaurant is not, and pretending otherwise only creates a queue of disappointed people.

Snooping, briefly.

We use a small number of cookies to keep your basket upright and to work out which pages people actually read. We do not sell anything about you to anyone, because that would be a rotten way to behave.
