Herds.
Topic-based groups where verified farmers share knowledge, advice and daily life from the field. A real collective noun, used as a community structure, and a genuinely better word than anything we had come up with ourselves.
An honest note about this one.
Across several volumes of strategy work, this estate’s own proposal for a farmer community structure was called The Parish — regional guilds, rural in register, geographically true.
Herds is better. It is a real collective noun, it is warmer, it works across topics rather than only across geography, and it is already in market. When somebody else has the better word and has already shipped it, the correct response is to say so.
The Parish survives on this site as the regional layer inside Belonging, because a village-hall register still does something a herd does not. But Herds got there first and got it right.
What a Herd does.
Verified farmers only
Which is what makes the advice worth anything.
Topic-based
Rather than only geographic, which is how farming knowledge actually clusters.
Daily life from the field
Not a forum. A window.
Knowledge and advice
The thing farming has always done in a market square and has been losing.
Verified only
Farmers who have been through the checks.
By topic
Arable, livestock, diversification, machinery.
Daily life
Photographs from the field, not press releases.
Moderated
Which any farming community needs to be.
The estate’s own version.
Nattering, and the Parish — the regional layer inside Belonging.
What people actually ask.
The two questions this page gets most, answered without a support ticket.
It does not. All liability sits with the farm, which is why the insurance certificate is a hard gate rather than a suggestion.
No. Only Farmers Limited was founded by Lisa Hogan — Lisa Bentinck on the register — and her son Wolfe Bentinck. Clarkson is billed on it as an aspiring farmer, which is a promotional role, not a directorship.
The honest version, fortnightly
