Shopping.
An emporium of edible delights and potatoes. A hundred and thirty-odd things made on this farm or within sixteen miles of it — because that is not a marketing promise, it is a planning condition, and the council checks.
Start with an aisle.
Nine collections, arranged roughly the way the shop itself is, which is to say not very logically but you get used to it.

The sixteen-mile rule is the whole shop.
In August 2022 West Oxfordshire District Council served an enforcement notice. The appeal was heard the following March and the inspector upheld it in part: the café, the shop and the car park could stay, the restaurant could not, and the goods sold here would be limited to those produced, grown or reared on Diddly Squat or within a sixteen-mile radius of it.
We asked for thirty miles. We got sixteen. And the strange thing — the genuinely strange thing — is that it made the shop better. A sixteen-mile limit forces you to know every producer personally, because there are only so many of them. It rules out the easy, boring, nationally-distributed filler that every other farm shop in England quietly stocks.
So the constraint is on the sign, not buried in the terms. Everything in here comes from this ground or from somebody we could drive to before lunch.
