Tours and tastings

Two hours at the brewery.

Twenty-four pounds a head, roughly two hours, and it includes the lagers, the cider and the Woodbrothers vodka. The taproom shop sells bottles and cases at the end, which is not an accident.

The two hours

What actually happens.

The grain

Where the barley comes in, and what malting does to it. Shorter than it sounds and more interesting than you expect.

The brewhouse

Mashing, boiling, hops. This is the loud, hot, wet part and the one people photograph.

The tanks

Fermentation and lagering — the weeks of doing nothing that make the difference.

The tasting

Premium, Session, IPA, the cider and the vodka. Poured properly, at the right temperature, in the right glass.

The shop

Bottles and cases, and twenty per cent off if you are a Hawkstonian.

Included

What twenty-four pounds gets you.

What you get

  • A guided tour of the working brewery
  • A tasting of the core range
  • The Woodbrothers vodka
  • Access to the taproom shop
  • Somebody who genuinely knows the answer

What you very much do not

  • Under-eighteens, at all
  • Transport to or from Bourton-on-the-Water
  • Food beyond something to soak it up
  • Any obligation to buy anything

Eighteen and over

Brewery tours are strictly for over-eighteens. There is no version of this that works for a family day out, and we would rather say so here than at the gate.

Booking

Book a tour.

Pick a date and a time. Tours run most weekends and some weekdays; the tasting is included in the price.

Times

Read this before you book

Tables are released on the first of the month for the whole of the following month, and they go in minutes. A no-show or a cancellation inside twenty-four hours costs £35 a head. We hold the table fifteen minutes. There is no telephone.

Or come to the farm shop instead.

Chipping Norton, Tuesday to Sunday, and no age restriction on the jam.

Wondering

What people actually ask.

The two questions this page gets most, answered without a support ticket.

Yes. At checkout, and again at the door. The driver has no discretion about it and neither do we.

Because lagering properly takes weeks in a tank that could be turning over a faster beer, and because the barley is bought at a price that leaves the grower something.

Snooping, briefly.

We use a small number of cookies to keep your basket upright and to work out which pages people actually read. We do not sell anything about you to anyone, because that would be a rotten way to behave.
