The Clarkson effect on agricultural applications is measurable — UCAS applications from eighteen-year-olds to agriculture and food-related degrees rose to around 9,400, up about twenty per cent on 2019, and the Royal Agricultural University reported course-specific rises of eleven to eighteen per cent. Attribution is disputed and some in the sector are cautious about it. What is not disputed is that more people want in than there are structured routes for.
