The point

Why blind judging is the only kind that counts.

A brand attached to a television programme with ten million followers can win almost any award that involves a public vote. That is not an achievement, it is arithmetic.

Blind judging is different. The label is covered, the judges are brewers and sommeliers, and the beer either stands up or it does not. Being named England’s best in the lager category at the World Beer Awards means something precisely because nobody in the room knew whose it was.

Wondering

What people actually ask.

The two questions this page gets most, answered without a support ticket.

Not from this site. Hawkstone reaches ten European countries through distributors, and the stockist finder is the honest route.

The lager and the pils are brewed with barley grown here. The cider is pressed from British apples, never concentrate. The spirits use British grain but not exclusively our own, and we say which is which on each page.

We use a small number of cookies to keep your basket upright and to work out which pages people actually read. We do not sell anything about you to anyone, because that would be a rotten way to behave.
