Why the free tier is a real tier.
Almost every membership scheme calls its free level a trial, restricts it heavily, and spends its energy pushing people off it. That is a reasonable way to run a subscription business and a poor way to run a community.
Loitering gets the entire chapter archive, every field camera including lambing, the newsletter, the loyalty wallet and a Parish. It is not crippled and it does not expire. If somebody stays on it for ten years, that is fine — they are still part of this, and they still buy jam.
