Come early or come late
The queue is worst between eleven and two. Nine-thirty on a Tuesday in February is a different shop entirely, and a better one.
Bring a card, not cash
Both the farm shop and the pub shop are card only. This surprises somebody every single day.
Park in the main car park first
The overflow exists, but in wet weather it is four-by-four only and entry is at your own risk. No towing, no recovery, no sympathy.
Leave before five
Both car parks close at five. The gate is not negotiable and nobody on site enjoys the conversation.

No. Turn up when we are open. There is no booking system for the shop, the café or the bar, and there is no queue-jumping.
Sometimes. Often not. He has a farm to run and a column to write, and the honest answer is that planning a visit around seeing him is planning to be disappointed.
No. We do not offer tours of the farm. The planning permission does not allow for it and, frankly, nor does the state of most of the fields.
Yes, outdoors and on a lead. Not inside the shop, for reasons involving food hygiene rather than any dislike of dogs.
No. Card only, at both the farm shop and the pub shop. This is the single most common source of doorstep disappointment.
No. The planning inspector refused it in 2023 and ordered the barn restored. There is a café and a bar. Food is served until three.
The Old Mill Antiques, the Brown Cow, The Man Cave at Broadway, Jaffe and Neale in Chipping Norton, and Firefly Barn. The Farmer’s Dog is twenty-five minutes away and worth the drive.
