The Price of a Steak Pie
It was £19 when the pub opened in August 2024. It is £26 now. Here is the arithmetic rather than an apology.

At opening, the steak pie with mash and Hawkstone gravy was nineteen pounds. It is now twenty-six. Mains across the menu have gone from roughly eighteen or nineteen pounds to between twenty-two and twenty-eight.
Three things drive that. British sourcing costs more than the alternative, and the whole point of this pub is that there is no alternative — no cheaper imported beef, no bulk-bought oil from wherever it is cheapest this quarter. Staff cost more than they did in 2024, and this pub employs more than a hundred and forty people. And energy and ingredient inflation hit hospitality harder than almost any other sector.
What we could do instead is shrink the portion, swap the beef for something cheaper, or quietly reprint the menu and hope nobody kept the old one. Several places have done all three. We would rather publish the before and after in a table and let you decide whether it is worth it.

The two questions this page gets most, answered without a support ticket.
When there is something worth saying. A publishing calendar produces filler, and filler is how a journal dies.
Ask first. We will almost always say yes and we will always want a link.
