Summer. Watching the wheat.

Corn and moss-lift, the brightest state the site ever reaches, and the one that gives the contrast guard the most work. Corn on chalk is roughly 1.9:1 and is refused everywhere the guard can see it.

In the fields

What is actually happening on the farm.

Watching the wheat

Which is most of what June is. There is very little to do and a great deal to worry about.

Fungicide timings

T2 at flag leaf, which is the spray that actually pays for itself.

Silage and hay

Cut in the window between two forecasts that disagree.

Winter barley comes off first

Usually mid-July, and it sets the tone for everything after.

The shop is at its busiest

Which has nothing to do with farming and everything to do with the school holidays.

The plates

The illustration set.

Every scene plate on this site is printed six times — reseeded land, re-inked sky, the subject nudged — and the summer set is the one that comes forward for these three months.

Which of the six a given page gets is decided by the page path rather than at random, so a card thumbnail and the hero it links to always show the same plate, but twelve pages sitting in one grid show twelve different pictures.

Plotting flips to "Nearly there" and the harvest window appears on every plot page.
