The Downs.
The only parish with no room. It meets in car parks at the tops of hills, walks for two hours, and has never once been rained off.

The North Wessex Downs, the South Downs and the chalk from Marlborough to Lewes. The boundary follows the landscape rather than the county line, which is why it looks wrong on an administrative map and right on a soil one.
It meets second Saturday of the month, 10am. A car park at the top of a hill, then a walk. There is no indoor venue and there are no plans to find one.
Hilary Vane is the warden. Grazes chalk grassland for a wildlife trust. Owns better boots than anybody else on the register. The wardenship is unpaid, was not appointed by us, and can only be ended by the parish itself.

1,588 members, of whom about thirty-one come to any given meet, which is a completely respectable turnout for anything.

I read the minutes, I have used the lending list twice and I have never been to a meet. Nobody has ever made me feel odd about that.
