A parish that has to be firm about starting on time, because it meets in a cider barn and the arithmetic of that is obvious to everybody.

It meets last Friday of the month, 7pm. A cider barn near Langport, which is exactly as good and exactly as unproductive as it sounds.

Cider pressing
A shared press, October and November. Members bring apples and leave with juice.
Orchard restoration
Three old orchards brought back over two years, with a professional pruner teaching as they go.
Flood mutual aid
A phone list that gets used properly about one winter in three, and is worth having every winter.
Withies and willow
Two basket makers who have taught about thirty members to do something useful with a rod.

We start at seven and we do the business by half past, for reasons anybody who has been in a cider barn will understand.
I read the minutes, I have used the lending list twice and I have never been to a meet. Nobody has ever made me feel odd about that.
