Thirteen producers, none of them further than eleven miles from the farm gate. This is not a curated selection of local heroes. It is very nearly the entire available supply, because the radius is a legal condition and there is not much inside it.
Sixteen miles is a planning condition
The goods sold in the farm shop are limited to those produced, grown or reared on Diddly Squat, or within a sixteen-mile radius of it. That is a West Oxfordshire District Council planning condition, not a marketing line, and we treat it as binding. It is measured from the shop, as the crow flies, and it applies to goods sold in the farm shop rather than to the pub, the brewery or anything posted from this website. That distinction matters and we do not blur it.
Thirteen producers, and why the pins overlap.
The map is a map of Britain. Every pin on it sits inside a circle sixteen miles across, which is why they are on top of each other. That is the point of the page.

What is not inside sixteen miles.

No citrus, and therefore no lemon.
The nearest commercially grown lemon is roughly a thousand miles away. There is no version of the planning condition that gets one onto the shelf, which is why the shop does not sell lemons and the pub’s gin and tonic does not have one in it.
This is the single question the shop is asked most often, and the answer has never changed.
A rule that only bites when it is convenient is not a rule.

No fishmonger, and one smokery.
West Oxfordshire is about as far from the sea as it is possible to get in England. There is a smokery at Burford that cures and smokes fish caught and farmed elsewhere, and there is nothing else. Fish sold in the shop is fish that was processed within sixteen miles, not caught within it, and the shelf card says which.

One dairy, one mill, one wool mill.
Where there is a single supplier of something, the shop has no leverage and no fallback. When Wychwood Dairy had a bad fortnight in 2024 there was no milk, because there was nowhere else inside the circle to get any.
Concentration risk is the least glamorous consequence of a local sourcing rule and the one that actually empties shelves.

And a great deal of grass.
What the circle has in abundance is livestock, cereals, orchards and pasture. That is why the shop looks the way it does: meat, dairy, flour, preserves, honey, wool and cider, with very little in the middle of the shop and nothing at all from a warm country.

Half of a local supply chain is seasonal, and a shop that pretends otherwise ends up buying from outside the circle in February.
