Who came on

The guests.

Eight episodes, six guests and one deliberately solo. The best of them is a planning consultant, which was not anybody’s prediction.

The thinking

How a guest is chosen.

Badly, if the criterion is audience. The most-listened episode is the one with the best-known name on it, which is the least interesting fact about this podcast and the one everybody predicted.

The criterion that actually gets used is whether somebody will say a number out loud. A planning consultant who will read a condition and then explain what it costs is worth more than a famous person who will not.

Two of the eight came from listener suggestions through Bothering Us, and both are in the top four by listening time per episode rather than by total listens, which is the more honest measure.

The criterion is whether somebody will say a number out loud.

What listeners said about the guests.

The planning episode is the one I have sent to the most people and none of them believed me beforehand.

Sixty-six minutes and I did not skip any of it, which for me is unheard of.

More of the brewer, please. Fewer of the famous.

Six guests

Across eight episodes.

One solo

The recall episode, deliberately.

Two suggested

By listeners, through Bothering Us.

One criterion

Will they say a number out loud.

Suggest one.

Bothering Us goes to a person. Two of these eight arrived that way.

Snooping, briefly.

We use a small number of cookies to keep your basket upright and to work out which pages people actually read. We do not sell anything about you to anyone, because that would be a rotten way to behave.
